Overwork, annoying bosses, and long hours at the office: what if the real burden at work was "office chair butt"? This new phenomenon is causing increasing concern among office workers. It first appeared last summer and has been revived on TikTok by American fitness influencers. Already in 2017, it was "dead butt" which worried office workers. The latter would cause an imbalance in the hips and lower back, due to the underdevelopment of the gluteal muscles.
With the return of warmer weather, the topic has resurfaced and, for the past ten days, has fueled a wave of new videos. American women's media outlet Bustle reports that dozens of users of the Chinese social network fear that their buttocks will flatten from sitting for eight hours straight—the typical length of a day at an office.
